I went to Greece the first time to attend my friend’s wedding, it was the last week of March 2023, one of the best months to go in Greece when it is not too warm but just a perfect sunny weather.
Here are the lists of places to tour around in Athens Greece center area:
- Lycabettus Hill – you can take a taxi from Syntagma square and ask to take you to Lycabettus hill to have an amazing view of Athens. While for me and my friends we took the ”sophisticated” route which is walking a.k.a climbing our way from the city to the hill. Imagine the struggle of climbing up the hill in a warm weather, but it was fun! and the view was worth the climb!
- Areas to have a drink later at night: Aiolou street, Kolokotroni Street, Psyrri Area and Kerameikos Square
- I would recommend to take the free walking tour in Athens, so you will be able to see the main attractions with overview of the history of each places. As per all ”Free” walking tours, it would be good to give EUR 10 and up to the guide at the end, depending on how happy you are with the tour.
Here are the list of Foods to try in Athens Greece center area:
- Falafels – The shop named FALAFELLAS has the tastiest falafels to go!
- Lukumades – Try this desert at the shop LUKUMAAEZ, don’t leave Athens without trying this with myzithra cheese and honey!
My Greece trip won’t be complete without visiting the Temple of Poseidon, we rented a car and drove all the way there. We were lucky that at that day and time, there weren’t a lot of People. We arrived at the place at 10 in the morning. We get to enjoy and tour the place ourselves, and visit the cliff near the temple. There was also a restaurant where you can enjoy your food with a good view of the temple and the cliff. It was refreshing.
We also went to Aegina Island, we took the car in the boat, and tour the Island for a day. We recommend to go to the fisherman village, and if you fancy Pistachio nuts, the center of Aegina is the place to visit, buy Pistachios and hoard in your suitcase before heading back to your country 🙂 They have the best Pistachio products in Greece and in Europe., perfect for Apperol hours.
My trip to Greece was more than a year as of the writing of this post, so I am sharing relevant tips and ideas as much as I can remember, plus here are some photos to share 🙂

I hope this gives you a bit of relevant tips for a first time traveler in Greece!
